Gold Nugget Award In recognition of creative achievements in architectural design and land use planning for residential and commercial, Talus received the Gold Nugget “Merit Award” for Best Master-Planned Community in the 100+ acres category, from the National Association of Home Builders, 2003. New Directions in Conservation Award Presented by the Cascade Land Conservancy, sponsored by the Master Builders Association of King and Sammamish Counties, 2003. “Talus' vision is for balance of lifestyle, not only within the Talus borders but beyond. Protecting these cherished places in urban neighborhoods, rural communities, along rivers and streams, and across the foothills of the Cascades makes a significant difference in the quality of our lives.” Vision 2020 Award Presented by the Puget Sound Regional Council, 2003. Talus received one of eight awards for engaging the City of Issaquah, local community and environmental groups in planning a development from the beginning. Clustering buildings in a new urban village and dedicating over 70% of the property to public open space, Talus has created a balance between new housing, environmental protection and public infrastructure improvements. “The VISION 2020 award winners show a high level of innovation, creativity and success. They are proof that our region is taking important steps to create a more livable future,” said Sammamish Councilmember Kathleen Huckabay, who chaired the selection committee and presented the awards. In recognition of Talus' donation of over 400-acres of permanent public forestland to the City of Issaquah, Talus has provided an outstanding example of Greenway compatible development, environmental preservation, water quality, scenic beauty and a high quality of urban life.
